31 Days {Day 10}: A Very Versatile Fall Accessory – How to Tie a Scarf

If I had to pick one accessory (although we all know cooler weather brings many wonderful accessories to the forefront) and name it king (queen?), it would be the almighty scarf. I love how you can take an otherwise drab outfit – enter jeans and a tee shirt – and have the option of a million different looks just by adding a great fall scarf! Well, maybe not a million…but here are a few anyway…

Let’s start with a nice “blah” before photo, shall we? Just jeans and a tee. Yup. Nothin’ special goin’ on here.

Ok. Now let’s add le scarf and start with the classic “fold scarf in half and thread ends through” look. Quick. Simple. Fab.

Then you could add a regular old knot and it kinda looks like a ginormous necklace!

What about the classic “once around”? Always a winner.

…and the classic once around again – just a little looser…

I love the infinity scarf look that is everywhere…you can easily just wrap yours around and pin it into a cozy circle!

How about tucking your scarf into a nice wide belt (and taking a really awkward picture of it!)?

Do you like classy vintage style? This would look great with a skirt or dress…

Lastly: a little belt action. Who knew a little scarf could be so versatile, huh?

Thanks to my sister Amethyst, photographer extraordinaire!

Kristin, I was looking for an e-mail and couldn’t find one, so I hope you don’t mind if I ask here – but I am doing a “Posts Worth Reading” feature in my sidebar, and I really liked your thoughts on blog commenting in this post: http://kristinsveranda.com/vignettes/2011/08/25/commenting-from-the-heart/. I linked to it in my list, but I wanted to make sure you don’t mind?
Hope you are having a great day!

Thanks for sharing this. I just love it! I have a scarf that’s almost identical to it–only mine is a mix of purple & pink. Can you guess what I’ll be wearing tomorrow?!

  7. Glamamom says:

First of all, you look fabulous! That scarf is just perfect with your outfit. I really love how you tucked it into the belt. Totally unexpected. I too love scarves, even though I have a short neck and they don’t do much for me but cover my tummy ;)

  8. Jocelyn says:

  9. I’m a bit scarf obsessed and you just added a whole new layer. I never thought of tucking it into a belt or pinning one that I already own to make it an infinity scarf! Genius. Love it!

  10. Great ideas. Thank you.
