A Little Fall Fashion

While I never claim to be a fashion guru, I certainly know what I do (and don’t) like, and through the process of editing and re-editing my wardrobe of late, I am beginning to see some semblance of a re-mixable style emerging. I’ve come to the conclusion though, that like it or not, in every area of my life (style, home decor, music, movies, etc…) I am a true eclectic. Just get bored too easily to commit to ONE style. Any other “eclectics” out there??

Today I thought I’d share a few little fun fall outfits that I put together for your perusing pleasure because, if you’re like me, you can’t wait to get into those jeans, boots, and sweaters! Bring on the coze.

First, let’s start with an easy way to bring nautical style (one of my staples) into fall:

Nautical Fall

Ok, this next one is classic me trying to be a little crazy. The “classic” is the fisherman’s sweater – there is simply nothing warmer and cozier in my book. The “little crazy” is the colored denim. Don’t laugh. I lived through the 80s where colored denim reigned supreme, and I have a hard time disassociating it from the train wreck that was 80s fashion. *Apologies to those who love shoulder pads, triangles on everything, neon, and baggy britches – no rotten tomatoes please. – I’m branching out though, and purchased a pair of peacock jeans this year like the ones below. Baby steps people.

Casual Coze

And lastly, though I wear outfits very similar to those above on the reg., let’s have an outfit that screams “Kristin”. My uniform if you will. This is what oozes, well, me: vintage, yet classic, feminine, lace, pearls, tailored, details, cozy/casual, yet pulled together. Love it.

The Vintage Pearl

So tell me, what is your fall style? If you had to wear one kind of outfit everyday (your “uniform”), what would it be?

Ooh, I’m so doing the stripes with the orange thing. Never thought about it, but I like it. I also purchased a pair of peacock color pants…still not sure about them just yet.

Hi Dar! Glad you like the rust with the stripes! Kind of a fun mix, no? I know…each day I look at my peacock pants, and they call to me, but I have no idea what to do with them! I guess it takes awhile to embrace a new concept, huh? :-) Thanks for stopping by today!

Good old Jeans, Sweater and Boots for me, so looking forward to it. Im loving those peacock colored jeans.

  3. Allie says:

I love all three of your looks! Like you, I’m eclectic when it comes to many areas, fashion being one of them. Fall is my favorite season because I love the look of sweaters, blazers, jeans and boots!

    • kristin says:

Allie, I’m with you. Fall fashion is my favorite by a mile! I always look forward to layering back up every September :-) . I like to think it’s most interesting when you’re eclectic – we can get away with trying anything! Ha!

  4. Great looks!! I think I’m a little like you, more eclectic. I would wear every one of these. Very well styled.

    • kristin says:

Thank you Mandy! That is very kind. Always so fun to find more “eclectics” out there… so many people seem to have very defined styles, but I just love to mix things up. Keeps life fun, right?! So glad you stopped by and said hello today :-)

  5. Nautical Fall for sure. But I’d take any of those outfits in a heartbeat!!!

  6. Christine says:

I will always have a weakness for stripes. Always.

    • kristin says:

*Sigh* Me too. At one point in time the vast majority of my closet consisted of stripes – and then I thought I’d better branch out a little in case I woke up one day, hated stripes, and then had nothing to wear ;-) . Now I’m a little more well-rounded, but you can still find me sporting them QUITE often!

I had to laugh at your comment on the second outfit, about not being fully able to dissassociate colored jeans from the 80′s fashion trainwreck. I’ve been saying that for a while now and I still can’t convince myself to buy any colored denim. I just can’t – it screams “80′s”…thanks, but no thanks! I absolutely LOVE the last outfit, though (minus the shoes).

    • kristin says:

I know, right?! :-) The reason I finally took the plunge (and peacock is really such a safe color…awfully close to dark wash denim!), is because having colored bottoms really does seem to make your whole wardrobe more mixable – which is what I’m going for this year – being able to have lots of shirts go with lots of different pants and look like completely different outfits. – We’ll see how it works out! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello Tia. Happy Friday!!

Cute! I especially like the sweater paired with the colored denim. I’m not too crazy about the pastel jeans that were so huge this summer (okay, let’s be honest here. It’s because of underwear lines. I cannot and will not ever wear a thong. Permawedgie.) but jewel tones for the fall are so pretty!

My style is really changing right now. Until this year, I’ve been totally kooky, in my clothing and home decor as well. Now I’m suddenly switching over to minimalist and architectural. My closet still bears a few of the old items, though – I still have tucked away a fully sequined oversize gold jacket, a pair of velvet stirrup pants, and a crochet crop top. Hey, you never know when you might need them :)

    • kristin says:

Hahaha! I love that you have a sequined jacket stashed away “just in case”. :-) I’m so with you on the pastel jean/underwear lines/thong bit. Some days I feel like I should have my “woman card” taken away because I despise thongs so much. Seriously? People think they’re COMFORTABLE??? But no worries this fall with all the rich, dark tones!

The prerogative to change our styles as we go along is one of the delights of life I think. How boring we would all be – if all we did was stay the same….

I love the green skinnies…I have a similar pair from The Loft that I adore!
