October Bucket List Update

Well, here we are into November already – can you believe it? Life is about to shift into overdrive for most of us! Before we get too far into the month though, I thought it was time for a little good old fashioned bloggy accountability. Also known as: “How did Kristin do with her October Bucket List?” I have to say, it’s been a month full of good things, and I’m pretty stoked (stoked? I never say stoked…there’s my husband rubbing off on me again…) that I was able to cross off the majority of my list!

Alrighty here we go:

+ Go on at least three picnics They were all divine!

+ Give our deck its fall facelift We did! Although I don’t have any photos of it – things are rather disheveled at the moment thanks to Hurricane Sandy.
+ Go apple picking You can read about that adventure HERE.
+ Make applesauce and/or apple butter Sure did! Have a freezer full of delicious apple butter. Made it the day after we got back from the orchard, so it was fresh as can be!
+ Plant mums and bulbs for spring Yes to mums, but haven’t gotten any bulbs in…might be too late :-(
+ Attend a marriage conference It was lovely, inspiring, invigorating, we were pumped, aaaand then we promptly got into a tiff that very night. Obviously we needed to work on the application part. ;-)
+ Enjoy some out-of-town company A photo-collage of our blacation is HERE.
+ Host a soup, sandwich, and pie night Really enjoyed sharing this night with some strangers-turned-new-friends!
+ Have another bonfire Just the s’mores variety…still haven’t hosted an all-out weenie roast this fall.
+ Trot up to Keswick Hall for lunch one day Sure did. HERE’S the evidence, and this week we’ll be up there again to eat our way through their delicious Villa lunch on another blate ;-) ! Woohoo! Double points for this one!!
+ Plan another fall blate Check! Husbands included this time! You can see where Erica and I went HERE.
+ Become friends with my new camera Getting there. When Jenni was here, she taught me so many great tips and tricks to play with. Still learning, but I’ve been on “Manual” for weeks now, and that feels good!
+ Cook as many cozy autumnal recipes as possible! Ooooooooh yeaaaaaah. Menus HERE and HERE, and don’t forget the popular Mini Pumpkin Crescents, Pumpkin Pie Smoothie, and Pumpkin Hot White Chocolate Recipes!
+ Start working on my Christmas cards They are designed and currently in production. :-) Here is a sneak peek at my prototype:

+ Make a good dent in Christmas gift planning/shopping This was my biggest fail. I don’t know why… Too busy doing other things? I feel soooo far behind and almost stressed now about how few gifts I have (I’m usually done by November 1st), but hope to devote some good focus in that general direction pre-Thanksgiving!
+ Stock the freezer  Been doing a pretty good job of this…making double batches of lots of dinners, and already starting to work on my holiday baking – more about that to come…

So there’s my update. October was a fun month! I hope yours was a good one too! What’s your favorite thing you did in October?

I love the idea of a monthly bucket list. I feel like it would really get you to do more of the little things that you might otherwise push aside. I believe you just gave me an idea for a New Year’s resolution!

You’re right! When you have things, even fun things, down in writing, you’re much more apt to actually try and get them done! Sure works for me :-) !

  2. You are the epitome of domestic goddess, my friend!

Wow you have been super busy!!!!! I wish we lived closer so that some of your organization would rub off on me! I feel like such a slacker!

Heehee! It’s the first child in me…can’t help it! I know, you TX bloggers need to make a mass exodus up here. Life’s just better in VA! ;-)

Woohoo — you rocked October! Like you, I tend to get an early start on my Christmas shopping and am making a dent . . . though I have quite a long way to go. November is actually a pretty fun month, and I love the anticipation of the holidays, so hopefully it will be a good one. Also, I love your Christmas cards — I need to get mine ordered!

Hi Meg! Yes, November IS a fun month, isn’t it?! Well you and me both will be plugging away at our Christmas lists this month. We can do it!

You should totally do it! Funny how we get so busy, we squish all the FUN stuff out of our lives. I think it deserves to be scheduled in just as much as the “necessaries”!

  6. Erica says:

One “fail” isn’t bad at all. At least you made it to our blate ;)

I’m still procrastinating on my holiday planning, so you are waaaaay ahead of me on that one.

Good job and very inspiring. I may “steal” some of your bucket list items.
