I Design My Own Blog – And You Can Too!!!

As you may have noticed, there have been a few *ahem* changes around here lately. Ok, so maybe a lot of changes. Perhaps it’s the whole fresh start/new year bit, but I’ve decided that I really want to be more intentional (there’s that buzz word again) about my blogging this year. Not so haphazard and all over the place. I want Vignettes to be a place of calm, simplicity, inspiration, encouragement, fun, joy, and peace. And I wanted my new design to reflect that new outlook.

Now, while talking to a friend earlier this week, she (as I was complaining about my limited knowledge of CSS code) asked me why in the world I didn’t just PAY someone to design my blog and be done it? But the truth is, it’s my blog. And as a creative soul, I want my design touches to be seen not only in my words and pictures, but also in my layout. Not somebody else’s interpretation of my inner vision. Yeah. I don’t delegate well.

So what exactly did I use to overhaul my blog you might ask? It’s all thanks to  My Memories Suite! A software, at first glance, created to produce darling digital photo albums- there is sooooo much more that you can use it for! Like blog design for instance, and creating you own high-quality printables, custom calenders, favors and decorations for parties, templates for boxes and 3-D objects, the list goes on and on.

This is one over-achieving digital scrapbooking software powerhouse! I can’t even begin to list all of the options you have for playing with shapes, fonts, and colors. There’s endless. You can even create you very own custom colors, as I did for my blog. They have tons of additional downloads that you can purchase at any time, and even offer some of them for free. I love THIS Valentine collection – and it’s on sale for only .99!

So here’s the best part: My Memories Suite can be purchased for only $39. BUT, if you use my special affiliate code, you’ll get $10 off the MSRP! My CODE: STMMMS13494

$30 for a digital design software that you can download instantly and get straight to work with? Yes please!

Oh, but it gets even better folks. ;-) Because this is a special Saturday post and all, why not throw in a FREE COPY of the MM software for one lucky reader?? I know. My Memories was so generous, that they not only offered to give me the digital software to test drive for free, they also provided another copy for some pretty sweet giveaway loot!

*Now, if you’re not into giveaways (or are just so anxious to get started!) and are ready to purchase your own, HERE’S the link, and use the code: STMMMS13494 to get $10 OFF the price.

Cool! You did a great job!! I’m in the process of wanting to change my blog design but taking it very slow because 1. I am one of those people that knows nothing about coding and 2. I also really want to tackle it myself before paying someone else to do it for me.
I did however decide to take an e-course on Blog Design that was a great deal. And there are so many tutorials on-line, it’s amazing!

Sarah – it sounds like you’re off to a great start taking a Blog Design class and all. Bet that was soooo helpful! There’s no rush, and there are SO many great tutorials out there to help you along the way…

I’d just like to point out to other readers who may not be willing to shell out 30 bucks for software (let’s be honest, some of us are pretty super poor college kiddies. Some great free platforms that offer you a lot of freedom are Wix and IM Creator. Check ‘em out! As is with the initial Blogger or WordPress platforms, these sites require that you have their name in your URL, unless of course you have your own domain name. Happy designing!

  3. Your design has looked great with every new change!

I love your new design! I would love to win the software.

Kristen, did you find this software easy yo use? I was kind of confused it mostly looks like digital scrapbooking, does it specifically show you how to do it on your blogs too?

It is easy to use once you get the hang of it – there are online tutorials to help. I have worked with a similar software before though, so it probably comes a little more natural to me because of that. – Basically, you can design whatever you want using their images and such, then export it as a JPEG file, and you can manipulate it however you like to make it suitable for your blog design! I’d be happy to help any way I can, should you ever choose to use it to design your blog :-) . Happy Monday to ya!
